Complete Section 2 of Form I-9
In Fun Fact Friday, Volume 13, we explored how new hires complete and e-sign Section 1 of Form I-9. Today’s Fun Fact Friday looks at things differently, focusing on the University of Nebraska or Nebraska State College employees’ part of completing Section 2 of Form I-9. This viewpoint lets you see and understand how your role fits into this process.
The For You Today section on the home page displays an overview of your tasks across multiple areas. This includes due dates, the number of tasks per card, the new hire’s start date, and more. It lets you see what requires your attention whenever you log in or navigate to the home page. In addition to your home page tasks, SuccessFactors automates certain notifications, such as when a new hire completes Section 1 of Form I-9. This tells you that it is time to complete Section 2.

The screenshots to the right show the “Compliance” card, where you can find the tasks for Section 2. When multiple cards appear, click “View All” to open all compliance-related tasks. This feature makes it easy to track and manage compliance-related tasks in one location.

This is extremely helpful because it provides an at-a-glance view of the status and due-date timing of all your Section 2 tasks, from the oldest to the newest. While completing tasks before their due date is the ideal scenario, this example illustrates what occurs if you do not complete a task on time.
After selecting the appropriate new hire’s card, you review the information they provided in Section 1 of Form I-9. As shown in the screenshot below, the blue box states, “Employee Information from Section 1 is confirmed by the new hire " confirming that they completed their step.

SuccessFactors enables new hires to upload their eligibility documents electronically for remote verification or in person. This gives us the flexibility to complete this without the new hire sitting next to us!
Continuing down the page, follow the instructions and click Submit to complete Section 2.
E-Sign Section of Form I-9
After completing Section 2, you proceed to electronically sign the documents. The system sends you an email with instructions on how to access DocuSign. Once you are in DocuSign, confirm your name and initials, and follow the prompts to click Sign and finalize the process. NOTE: If this is your first time in DocuSign, select your signature style, draw your signature, or upload a custom one.
Then, follow the steps, clicking Sign where necessary to finalize the process. With all fields signed and completed, you officially finish electronically signing Section 2 of Form I-9.

Using DocuSign and SuccessFactors to complete the I-9 process enhances efficiency, meets compliance needs, and maintains accuracy. These systems work together to simplify the tasks, completing everything electronically.
Changing Readiness Assessment #2 Results
Thank you for participating in the Change Readiness Assessment #2! The results highlight progress, with over a third of respondents confidently describing Project 921 – a 10% improvement from the first assessment. While general acceptance of the future state remains high, based on the results, the Change Management team will start to shift the focus of communications to emphasize the value of this solution to our daily work.
Since the first assessment, we doubled satisfaction with the frequency of information with the addition of our Monday and Wednesday publications, the regularly published FAQs, and other updates to the Project 921 website. We also improved the level of detail in communications, meeting your expectations, and gaining a 30% increase in satisfaction. These changes highlight the impact of our adjusted communication strategy since January.
